This study looks at whether having an underactive thyroid can affect the build-up of scar tissue in the liver in people with a condition called MASLD (fatty liver disease linked to metabolic problems). If you have both underactive thyroid and fatty liver, this could help us understand your risk for liver damage.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You have a diagnosis of fatty liver disease (confirmed by an ultrasound and at least one of: overweight, diabetes, or high blood pressure).
  • You have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), or you have normal thyroid function (for comparison).
  • Your medical records include the blood tests needed to calculate liver fibrosis scores.
  • You are willing to sign a consent form to participate.
