Combined brain-protecting treatments for recent ischemic stroke
Part of Brain & nervous system, Heart & circulation clinical trials.
This study tests a combination of gentle brain-protecting treatments (temperature, oxygen, positioning, and nerve stimulation) given alongside standard clot-busting therapy for recent strokes. The goal is to see if the combination can help improve recovery and reduce disability after a stroke.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You must be 18 years or older.
- You must have had an acute ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel in the brain) diagnosed by a doctor.
- Your stroke must be confirmed by a brain scan that shows a blocked artery.
- You must be eligible for and plan to receive clot-busting medication or a clot-removal procedure (or have already started it).
- Your stroke must have started within the last 24 hours.
- Before this stroke, you must have been able to do all your usual daily activities without help.

This trial tests if hyperbaric oxygen therapy (breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber) can help people recover better after having a stroke caused by a large clot in the front part of the brain. It is for people who recently had a clot removal procedure and have some remaining disability but are still awake and aware.
This study tests a structured, fast way of treating people who have a new ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel). It may help because it focuses on getting the right stroke treatments quickly and consistently.
This study tests a rescue treatment for people having a major stroke caused by a blocked artery in the brain that also has severe narrowing. If doctors can't fully open the artery with standard clot removal, this study looks at whether additional treatments can help.
This trial tests if a hibernation-like therapy can improve recovery after a stroke caused by a large blood clot in the brain. It is for people who are having a stroke and are scheduled for a procedure to remove the clot.
This trial studies a protective “conditioning” treatment given during air ambulance transport for people with a suspected large-vessel ischemic stroke. The goal is to reduce further brain injury and preserve more brain tissue while you’re being transported for stroke care.
This study tests whether giving high concentration oxygen (called normobaric hyperoxia) during a standard clot-removal procedure (endovascular therapy) can improve recovery after a large-vessel stroke. It's for people who are treated later, within 6 to 24 hours of symptoms starting.
