Who can take part
- You must be 18 years or older
- You have recently experienced a stroke, TIA (mini-stroke), or other blood-flow problem in your brain, or are at high risk for one
- You can be enrolled while in the emergency department, intensive care unit, or hospital
- You cannot be pregnant
- If you have certain metal implants (pacemaker, cochlear implant, aneurysm clips, neural stimulator, insulin pump, or metal shrapnel), you may not be able to have MRI scans but can still participate in other parts of the study
- You must be able to safely enter an MRI machine (no severe claustrophobia or conditions preventing scanner entry)
