Who can take part

  • You had a recent stroke or TIA (mini-stroke) with symptoms like weakness or trouble speaking.
  • Symptoms started within 3 days before you came to the hospital.
  • You could walk without help before the stroke.
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You can have an MRI (no metal implants, severe claustrophobia, or pregnancy).
  • You do not have other active illnesses like infection, thyroid disease, or Parkinson's.
