Stimulation and nerve targeting to improve hand spasticity

This trial tests a combination therapy that uses magnetic muscle stimulation and a targeted nerve procedure to reduce severe, difficult-to-treat spasticity (stiffness) affecting the hand. It may help if prior hand movement therapy has not worked well for you.

Who can take part

  • You have severe stiffness/weakness on the right side of your body, affecting your hand
  • Hand physical therapy (kinesic treatment) has not helped enough
  • A clinician test during the screening shows at least a 2-point improvement after numbing/blocking (Modified Ashworth Scale)
  • You do not have severe heart (cardiovascular) problems
  • You do not have severe lung (pulmonary) problems
  • You do not have advanced cancer or severe joint stiffness that has “fused” (ankylosis), and no permanent scarring that has tightened the muscle
