Breathing MRI using xenon gas to study lungs

Who can take part

  • You are age 8 or older and can follow the study instructions
  • You have never smoked (or you have no smoking history)
  • If you have cystic fibrosis or asthma: you have a confirmed diagnosis and your symptoms are at your usual baseline control level
  • Your breathing test (FEV1) must be greater than 40% of what’s expected
  • You can hold your breath for up to 20 seconds or less
  • You can do lung breathing tests that are consistent (repeated results close to each other)
