Who can take part
- You’re age 22 or older and can understand and sign consent
- Your BMI is above 35 (often in the obesity range)
- Your blood, liver, and kidney labs are high enough for the procedure (bilirubin, kidney filter rate, and clotting/platelets)
- Your liver tests are elevated (ALT or AST) and you have a NASH biopsy within the last 12 months
- You don’t have another known liver cause like hepatitis or autoimmune liver disease, and you’ve already tried diet/exercise/behavior changes
- You’re not pregnant, don’t have active substance abuse, and don’t have serious uncontrolled mental health issues
