Who can take part
- You need a diagnosis that can be treated with a stem cell transplant, such as certain blood cancers, immune system disorders, sickle cell disease, or bone marrow failure.
- You must have a willing donor – either a family member who is a partial match or an unrelated donor from the national registry who matches at least 8 out of 10 key markers.
- If this is your first transplant or a non-urgent second transplant, your daily activity level should be at least 60% on the Lansky or Karnofsky scale (meaning you're up and about most of the day).
- You cannot have a fully matched brother or sister donor available (unless there are special safety reasons to use this approach).
- If you are of childbearing age, you must have a negative pregnancy test before starting.
