Who can take part
- You are having your first heart transplant (no previous organ transplants)
- You are 18–70 years old, and you are not pregnant
- Your pregnancy test (if applicable) is negative right before transplant, and you can follow strict birth control rules
- Your kidney function is acceptable (creatinine less than 2.0 mg/dl)
- You do not have certain infections (like HIV, hepatitis B or C) and no untreated active infection
