PET scan study of lung inflammation in never or current smokers

Who can take part

  • You are 21 or older.
  • You are either a never-smoker, or a current smoker who smoked at least 10 cigarettes per day for the past month, with at least 100 cigarettes total in the last month.
  • You can do about 1 hour of lying still during PET/CT or PET/MR, and follow the breathing instructions during the CT part.
  • You have not used illicit drugs or other inhaled drug agents in the past year.
  • You do not have known history of heart, lung, liver, or kidney disease, and you do not have diabetes.
  • Your BMI is 35 or lower, and you are not pregnant (a urine test may be done).
