This trial looks at how well different pain medicines work after surgery for a specific type of broken elbow bone. It may help find a safer, more comfortable pain-control plan while the fracture heals.

Who can take part

  • You have a closed, isolated supracondylar humerus fracture (a broken upper arm bone near the elbow) that is Type II or Type III.
  • Your fracture was treated with closed reduction and percutaneous pinning (a minimally invasive procedure using pins).
  • You do NOT have nerve (neurologic) problems caused by the fracture.
  • You do NOT have blood vessel (vascular) injury along with the fracture.
  • You can use the Faces Pain Scale-Revised (a face-based pain rating).
  • You are not allergic to acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or oxycodone, and you do not have other excluded situations like multiple injuries or a pathologic fracture.
