  • You can understand the study and sign consent
  • You have Parkinson’s and a doctor says you are safe to have DBS surgery
  • Your Parkinson’s medicine (levodopa) causes troublesome side effects like involuntary movements or “on-off” swings
  • Levodopa improves your symptoms by at least 30% when you’re in the “off” state
  • You can return for follow-up visits during the study
  • You do not have conditions that block DBS, such as unsafe surgical risk or major brain injury besides Parkinson’s
