Who can take part
- Be older than 18 years
- You have sudden severe breathing failure with low oxygen (PaO2/FiO2 under 200)
- You are not dealing with fluid buildup in the lungs (acute pulmonary edema)
- You do not have a chest wall shape problem that could affect breathing measurements
- You do not need a breathing machine right away (mechanical ventilation)
- You are not pregnant and you do not have high carbon dioxide levels as a main problem (hypercapnic respiratory failure)
