Who can take part

  • Be age 18 to 80
  • Plan to have elective knee arthroscopy (meniscus trim, cartilage smoothing, or removing loose tissue)
  • Not have used opioids long-term or have chronic pain that needs regular pain medicines
  • Do not have opioid or related medicine allergies or prior bad reactions to hydrocodone, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen
  • Not be pregnant or breastfeeding; able and willing to sign consent and follow the study rules
  • Not have substance abuse issues, alcoholism, or be dealing with active infection symptoms at enrollment
