This pilot study tests whether low-intensity focused ultrasound can reduce seizures in adults whose temporal lobe epilepsy hasn’t improved with at least two anti-seizure medicines. You may be asked to track seizure timing and undergo brain imaging before and during the study.

Who can take part

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have drug-resistant temporal lobe epilepsy, with seizures that affect awareness, and have tried at least two anti-seizure medicines without enough control.
  • Have about 1–2 seizures per month on average, and be able to track them reliably (you or a caregiver).
  • Be able to understand and sign the consent form and cooperate with study testing.
  • Be able to get a brain MRI (no implanted metal that makes MRI unsafe, and you can lie still for it).
