Who can take part

  • You have major depression for at least 2 years or you’ve had at least 4 separate major-depression episodes, including now
  • You’ve tried at least 4 different depression treatments at adequate doses for long enough, and they didn’t work
  • Your depression is still severe during screening visits within about 45 days before the device is implanted
  • Your antidepressant/psychiatry medicines stay the same for at least 4 weeks before implantation
  • You have never had certain conditions like psychosis, schizophrenia, or bipolar “rapid cycling”
