Who can take part

  • Baby was born at full term, between 36 and 41 weeks of pregnancy
  • Baby is not a premature newborn
  • Baby is not part of a twin pregnancy
  • No suspected birth defects seen on prenatal (before birth) ultrasound
  • Baby does not need special pediatric care starting from birth
  • Mother does not have certain chronic viral infections (like HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B, or hepatitis C) and baby is not linked to multidrug-resistant bacteria
