This Phase 3 study tests whether giving post-transplant cyclophosphamide can better prevent a dangerous immune complication called GVHD compared with the usual standard medicines. You may be eligible if you are in remission from acute leukemia and planning a fully matched related-donor stem cell transplant.

Who can take part

  • You have acute leukemia (AML or ALL) that is in complete remission (with or without blood count recovery).
  • You are planning a fully matched related donor transplant using donated stem cells from peripheral blood (8/8 match).
  • You are scheduled for a myeloablative conditioning regimen (a high-intensity chemo/before transplant plan).
  • Your heart and lung and kidney and liver function meet specific lab/scan thresholds (including ejection fraction ≥50%, creatinine clearance >50, and lung tests ≥50%).
  • You can sign consent and are well enough for transplant (Karnofsky/Lansky score 70 or higher), without active infection or active disease.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you (and your partner if relevant) can follow strict birth-control rules for one year after transplant.
