Who can take part
- You must be between ages 4 and 21
- You must be able to do an MRI scan without sedation (sleep-inducing medicine)
- You cannot be pregnant during the study
- You must not take certain blood-vessel opening medicines (like sildenafil or verapamil)
- For healthy participants: no history of epilepsy or stroke/cerebrovascular disease
- For sickle cell participants: you must have Hb SS or Hb S beta-thalassemia and no known blood-vessel disease
