This trial studies whether methylphenidate (a stimulant medicine) can improve thinking and memory problems related to epilepsy. You may be kept on your usual seizure medicines, and your thinking will be tested over about 16 weeks.

Who can take part

  • Be 18 years or older and able to give informed consent
  • Have focal-onset epilepsy (seizures that start in one brain area) and report thinking problems
  • Be able to live independently and handle daily activities
  • Have stable seizure frequency and keep your anti-seizure medicines the same during the trial (unless a medical change is needed)
  • Speak and read English fluently
  • For people with thinking complaints: MoCA score must be 18 or higher (and not pregnant/breastfeeding, and no certain heart/mental health issues)
