MRI study to assess stroke risk from carotid narrowing

Who can take part

  • You have a CT scan (CTA) showing carotid artery narrowing in one of these ranges: under 30%, 30–69%, or 70% or more.
  • You do not have dementia, and your thinking test (MMSE) score is 21 or higher.
  • You have NOT had past brain/nerve symptoms caused by carotid narrowing or a “mini-stroke” (transient ischemic attack).
  • You do not have other major brain/large-vessel problems (like brain tumors, infections/inflammation, injuries, or certain vessel complications).
  • You can safely have an MRI scan (no MRI safety contraindications).
  • You have not recently taken psychoactive drugs or hormone medicines.
