- You have been diagnosed with narrowing of the carotid artery (the main artery in your neck) due to plaque buildup.
- You agree to take part in the study and sign a consent form.
- You do not have severe narrowing of arteries inside your brain.
- You do not have other causes of stroke like a heart clot, artery inflammation, or a trapped aneurysm.
- You do not have cancer, a rheumatic disease, a blood disorder, or other conditions that change your blood.
- You can safely have an MRI scan and are not allergic to the contrast dye (gadolinium).
