EEG-guided pain medication adjustment during anesthesia

Who can take part

  • You are 60 years old or older
  • You can understand the study and sign consent
  • You are having planned, elective non–heart surgery that does not involve your head or neck
  • Your anesthesia plan is general anesthesia expected to last at least 2 hours
  • You do not have long-term pain that requires opioid medicine on a regular basis
  • You are not taking medicines that speed up drug breakdown (like carbamazepine or phenytoin), and you avoid illicit drug use or heavy alcohol use
