Who can take part

  • You have cancer in one side of your thyroid (unilateral thyroid carcinoma)
  • On the other side, you have a benign (non-cancer) thyroid nodule confirmed by a needle biopsy
  • That non-cancer nodule on the other side is 20 mm or smaller and is inside the thyroid
  • Your neck exam and neck ultrasound do not show enlarged lymph nodes (node-negative)
  • You have never had surgery in the neck before
  • You have never had radiation treatment to the neck before
