Who can take part
- You must be 18 or older and able to sign consent before any study steps
- You are scheduled for a non-emergency heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine (CPB)
- Your surgery plan must involve certain procedures (like CABG or valve repair/replacement)
- You have one or more risk factors, such as heart failure history, low LVEF, kidney function/eGFR <45, anemia, diabetes, or age 65+
- Your kidneys must not have had an acute injury in the 7 days before surgery (based on specific blood test criteria)
