Who can take part

  • You have advanced (metastatic) non-small cell lung cancer with an EGFR-activating mutation in exons 19 or 21
  • Your general health/function score is ECOG 0 to 2 (you can do self-care, with limited activity if any)
  • For the group that measures response, you have a measurable tumor spot at least 1–2 cm on imaging or exam
  • You can take study pills by mouth, and your blood counts and liver/kidney tests are within required ranges
  • If you could become pregnant (or have a partner who could), you must use reliable birth control during the study and for a set time after
  • You can’t have certain recent chemotherapy/radiation, untreated brain symptoms, or lung scarring/inflammation
