Who can take part

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You have chronic kidney disease with a low bicarbonate level (between 12 and 20 in your blood).
  • You are not expected to need dialysis or a kidney transplant during the study.
  • You do not have serious stomach or bowel problems, and you have not had bariatric surgery.
  • You are not taking certain acid-reducing medications or specific other drugs (like GLP-1 agonists) unless stable for a period.
  • You are willing to keep your diet similar throughout the study.
