Who can take part

  • You have differentiated thyroid cancer confirmed by pathology (biopsy/surgery tissue test)
  • Your tumor has a specific target found on lab testing (NTRK, RET, ALK, BRAF, or another targetable change)
  • Your CT scan shows lung metastases, such as many small solid nodules or growing discrete nodules
  • You are starting an oncogene-specific targeted therapy (or already started) using a plan from a doctor or another approved trial access pathway
  • You can get a whole-body thyroid scan without needing sedation or general anesthesia
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding (because the scan uses radioactive iodine)

Radioactive iodine therapy for thyroid cancer

This trial studies whether giving more radioactive iodine (RAI) can help adults with differentiated thyroid cancer (a type of thyroid cancer) who still have signs of disease in their blood after initial treatment. It is for people who had their thyroid removed and have already had RAI therapy but show persistent or returning biochemical disease (abnormal blood markers) without any visible tumors on scans.
