Who can take part

  • You have confirmed esophageal or gastro-esophageal junction cancer, either squamous cell or adenocarcinoma (including signet cell or large cell types).
  • Your cancer stage is M0 (no distant spread) but not early only: it should be cT1–4a and/or have lymph node involvement (cN+).
  • You are 18 years or older and can do daily activities fairly well (WHO performance status 0–2).
  • Recent scans include FDG PET/CT, and the study team plans curative treatment with radiation/chemotherapy followed by planned esophagus or stomach surgery (open or minimally invasive).
  • Your blood counts and organ function are good enough (for example hemoglobin above 90 g/L, platelets at least 75, and kidney function with GFR above 30).
  • If you can become pregnant, you must use highly reliable birth control and have a negative pregnancy test.
