Who can take part

  • You must be admitted to one of the study’s ICU units
  • You started a breathing machine less than 24 hours ago
  • Doctors expect you will still need the breathing machine for more than 24 hours
  • You must be 18 or older
  • Pregnancy is not allowed (or suspected pregnancy must be ruled out)
  • You must be able to get a lung ultrasound scan with clear results
