Test breathing support patterns in moderate to severe ARDS

Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old, and not pregnant
  • You are currently on a breathing machine (mechanical ventilation) through a breathing tube
  • You were intubated between 24 hours and 5 days ago
  • Your ARDS is moderate-to-severe (oxygen level ratio PaO2/FiO2 is 200 or less while on PEEP 5)
  • You are deeply sedated and receiving controlled ventilation
  • You can safely use a bedside lung-monitoring scan (EIT) with no chest injuries/wounds that prevent it
