Who can take part

  • Be 7 years to 21 years (and 11 months) old when you enroll
  • Be at least 3 weeks past the end of main brain-tumor treatment (or specific radiation timing for some tumors)
  • Be able to take tablets (swallowed whole or crushed, or through a feeding tube) and be willing to follow the study schedule
  • Have kidney and liver tests that fall in the “normal” ranges the study requires
  • Be able to join the study in English (or French at some sites) or have had at least 2 years of schooling in that language
  • Have no key conditions that the study excludes (examples: metformin allergy, certain diabetes, low IQ, major kidney problems)
