Safety study of repeated blood-brain barrier opening for pediatric brain tumors

Who can take part

  • You must be between 5 and under 18 years old
  • You need a malignant brain tumor above the brain “tent” (supra-tentorial) and the tumor must be back or growing after standard treatment
  • Doctors plan to treat you with carboplatin as part of your care
  • You must be able to get the ultrasound treatments (“sonications”) and MRI scans without needing sedation, if possible
  • Your body must be healthy enough for treatment: enough blood counts (neutrophils and platelets) and organ tests in acceptable ranges
  • You must not have certain safety risks (for example, recent scalp wound, significant bleeding in/near the tumor, or dangerously high pressure in the brain)
