Who can take part
- You must be younger than 22 years old and have a blood cancer that is in remission (no visible signs of disease) or in a state of incomplete recovery.
- You must be planning to receive a donor stem cell transplant with a strong conditioning regimen (high-dose chemotherapy or radiation).
- You must have a suitable donor: a fully matched sibling or unrelated donor, or a half-matched family member (haploidentical). Your doctor will check for donor availability.
- Your vital organs (heart, lungs, kidneys, liver) must be working well enough to tolerate the transplant. We'll run tests to check this.
- You must not have had a previous myeloablative transplant, be taking certain immune-suppressing medications, or have certain infections or other medical conditions that could make the transplant risky.
- You must be willing to avoid pregnancy or fathering a child for at least one year after the transplant.
