Who can take part

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You have acute myeloid leukemia, mixed phenotype leukemia (in remission or nearly so), or certain types of MDS with low blast counts.
  • You will receive a reduced-intensity or nonmyeloablative preparative regimen (chemo and low-dose radiation).
  • You have a related or unrelated donor who is an 8/8 HLA match.
  • Your heart, lungs, and kidneys work well enough, and your liver function is within limits.
  • You have not had a prior stem cell transplant and are not on high-dose steroids or immunotherapy.
