Follow-up after ECT for major depression

Depressive Disorder

This study checks how well electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) works for people with major depression right after treatment and again 6 months later. You may be able to take part if you had ECT for major depression at the specified hospitals and agree to be included in a neurostimulation follow-up registry.

Who can take part

  • You received ECT for major depression (not another reason) at Haukeland or Stavanger University Hospital.
  • Your ECT treatment was after 2013.
  • You were treated specifically for major depression.
  • You must sign written consent to join the Regional Register for neurostimulation.
  • You must not have had ECT for any other condition besides major depression.
