Who can take part
- You’re 18 or older, and you have a type of throat cancer linked to HPV that is p16-positive on lab testing
- Your scanable primary tumor can be fully removed by surgery (no distant spread)
- Before surgery, your HPV blood test (NavDX) must be detectable at the required level (at least 10 fragments/mL)
- After surgery, your repeat HPV blood test (1–5 weeks later) must be undetectable (less than 5 fragments/mL)
- You haven’t had prior cancer treatment to the head and neck (except limited biopsy/tonsil removal), and you’re not an active smoker
- Your health tests (kidney function, blood counts) must be adequate, and you must be able to sign consent
