This Phase 2 study tests a “risk-adapted” treatment plan for HPV-related throat cancer, using an HPV DNA blood test to help decide how treatment is done. If your baseline blood test shows detectable HPV DNA, the study may help tailor therapy to your risk and potentially improve outcomes while limiting unnecessary treatment.

Who can take part

  • You have HPV-related throat cancer in the tonsil or back of the tongue (stage I–III), and not stage IV or N3 disease
  • Your HPV status must be confirmed from tumor tissue using p16 (≥70%) and/or a DNA test for high-risk HPV
  • You must have a detectable HPV DNA level in your blood before treatment using the NavDx® test
  • You plan to be treated with non-surgical therapy (radiation with or without chemotherapy), not surgery as the main treatment
  • You must be able to give blood samples and a diagnostic biopsy sample before, during, and after treatment
  • You must be 22+ years old and well enough to take treatment (overall function score no more than 2)
