This study tests whether some people with idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis can stop prednisone earlier when a PET/CT scan shows no concerning activity. It may reduce steroid side effects while keeping the disease under control.

Who can take part
- You are over 18 years old
- You have new or untreated relapsing active idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis
- Your CT scan shows a peri-aortic mass (tissue around the abdominal blood vessels) from retroperitoneal fibrosis
- You have signs of inflammation (like related symptoms and/or high CRP blood test, >20 mg/L)
- You can have a PET/CT scan and a CT scan with contrast injection
- You are able to take prednisone, and you are not pregnant or breastfeeding
