Who can take part

  • You have rectal adenocarcinoma confirmed by biopsy (a tissue test).
  • Your tumor is within 10 cm of the anus, based on exam/scans.
  • Your cancer is “locally advanced” (not spread to distant organs), confirmed by pelvic MRI or endoscopic ultrasound.
  • You are well enough for treatment (ECOG 0–1) and your blood, kidney, and liver test results are within required ranges.
  • You have never had radiation to the pelvis before, and you have not started any cancer treatment right after diagnosis.
  • You can not have had prior PD-1/PD-L1 or CTLA-4 immune therapy.
