Who can take part

  • Be between 18 and 60 years old and able to sign written consent
  • Be generally healthy enough for MRI scans
  • Not be pregnant or breastfeeding (pregnancy tests will be done before scans)
  • Have no alcohol on scan days (breath alcohol must be 0)
  • If in the nicotine part: use nicotine daily for at least 6 months and test positive for nicotine
  • For depression-related groups: meet specific depression status rules based on a structured interview and a depression rating score
