Who can take part

  • You’re between 18 and 65 years old
  • Your breathing problems started or worsened within the last 2 weeks and you need extra oxygen or breathing support
  • You have been on a breathing machine (intubated ventilation) for less than 7 days
  • You have moderate-to-severe oxygen problems based on blood-gas oxygen levels, with specific repeat measures
  • You will try turning onto your stomach (proning) unless it’s not safe for you
  • You cannot already be on ECMO, and you can’t be expected to die within 24 hours
