Test pain medicine mix to reduce device pocket pain

This Phase 1 study tests whether a combination of pain medicines (bupivacaine plus ketorolac and ketamine) works better than bupivacaine alone to reduce pain after placing a new heart device. If you get a new pacemaker/ICD/CRT device and meet other safety rules, you may be asked to join.

  • You’re 18 years or older.
  • You are getting a new heart device implanted (pacemaker, ICD, CRT-P, or CRT-D).
  • You’re willing to participate in the study.
  • You have no history of allergic reaction to bupivacaine, ketorolac, or ketamine.
  • You are not pregnant and not breastfeeding.
