Who can take part
- You were diagnosed soon after high-sugar symptoms began (with ketosis or ketoacidosis).
- At your first visit, your blood sugar was very high (at or above 16.0 mmol/L).
- Your HbA1c was below 8.7% at the first visit (a diabetes blood marker).
- Your body makes little insulin at onset, shown by low urine or blood C-peptide levels.
- You do not already have a previous diabetes diagnosis (this trial excludes previously diagnosed cases).
