Who can take part

  • You already use a knee brace (like a KAFO or similar passive leg brace) regularly and reliably, on one or both legs.
  • Your brace use is for trouble walking from a nerve/muscle, orthopedic (bone/joint), or injury/trauma problem.
  • You can understand the study instructions and give consent (or have someone who can help you).
  • You’re willing to wear and charge an activity monitor every day for about 3 months at home.
  • Your knee/hip bend limitations (contractures) are not more than 15 degrees.
  • You don’t have major knee side-to-side misalignment that can’t be corrected (more than 15 degrees), and you can stabilize your trunk while standing or walking with aids if needed.
