Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (new or past diagnosis).
- You are 55–69 years old if you are male, or 60–74 years old if you are female.
- You are able to sign a consent form to join the study.
- You have not had prior heart or blood-vessel disease such as heart attack, stent/angioplasty or bypass, heart failure, stroke, or blocked leg arteries.
- You should not be allergic or unable to take both types of diabetes heart medicines called SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 analogs (either one can be unsafe for you).
- Your heart testing should not show very severe disease (such as major narrowing of a key heart artery or very low heart pumping strength), and you should not have a condition that is expected to limit life to less than 1 year.
