Who can take part
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be able to understand and sign a consent form.
- You must have type 2 diabetes.
- You must also have a heart or blood vessel condition, such as: prior heart attack, angina (chest pain) with blocked arteries, stroke, poor circulation in your legs (peripheral artery disease), heart failure, irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation), a problem with your heart valves, or high blood pressure that needs 3 or more medications.
- You should not have a life expectancy less than 5 years due to any other illness.
- You should not have type 1 diabetes or be in another trial that could interfere with this study.
