Who can take part
- You are hospitalized for heart failure and you have a pleural effusion (fluid around the lung).
- Your doctors have decided you need a procedure to collect pleural fluid for testing.
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You have NOT had treatment directly into the lung lining on the same side (for example, talc or clot-busting medicine).
- You have NOT had surgery on the same side to remove the lining or to permanently seal it (pleurodesis/decor tication).
- You have NOT had heart or chest surgery on the same side within the last 3 months.
