  • You are scheduled for planned (elective) cardiovascular surgery that uses a heart-lung bypass machine
  • You can sign written consent to join the study
  • You are not pregnant
  • You are not refusing blood from other people (donated/banked blood transfusions)
  • You are not allergic to tranexamic acid (TXA)
  • You do not have certain clotting risks or recent major stroke/heart attack
