Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • Your symptoms and scan fit an acute pulmonary embolism (clot in the lung) and started within the last 14 days
  • A CT scan shows a clot in a main or lobar lung artery, and your heart strain measurement is high enough (RV/LV ratio at least 0.9 by the investigator’s reading)
  • Your blood pressure is at least 90 (top number), and your heart rate is under 130 before the procedure
  • Your oxygen needs are not too high (you likely can’t need more than 40% oxygen or more than 6 liters/min to keep oxygen saturation over 90%)
  • There are no major safety blockers (recent clot-related treatments, severe kidney/liver/blood-count problems, high bleeding risk, certain heart/lung conditions, or pregnancy)
